Working Principle of Low Voltage Rack-mounted Lithium Battery
1. Core Electrochemical Reaction: Relies on the migration of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes to achieve charging and discharging. During charging, lithium ions deintercalate from the positive electrode (e.g., lithium iron phosphate, ternary materials) and intercalate into the negative electrode (typically graphite) through the electrolyte; during discharging, the reverse migration occurs, releasing electrical energy for device use.  
2. Rack-Mounted Structure Adaptation: Battery cells or modules are fixed in a 19-inch rack via standardized brackets. Internal circuits (such as the BMS, Battery Management System) enable series/parallel connections between cells to uniformly output voltage and current, complying with installation specifications for rack-mounted equipment.  
3. Integration of Intelligent Management System: The built-in BMS monitors battery status (voltage, current, temperature, SOC remaining capacity, etc.), prevents risks like overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits, while optimizing charging/discharging efficiency to extend battery life.  
4.Energy Conversion and Output: Converts the battery's direct current (DC) into stable voltage required by devices (e.g., 12V, 24V, 48V, or 220V) through DC-DC or DC-AC conversion modules, meeting power supply needs in different scenarios.

The service life of rack-mounted lithium batteries mainly depends on the cell type and application scenario. Products using lithium iron phosphate cells generally have a cycle life of over 2,000 times, with some high-end models exceeding 5,000 cycles. Under normal usage, their service life is usually 5-10 years. Routine maintenance is straightforward: regularly check battery status (voltage, temperature, SOC, etc.) through the BMS system, and clean the cabinet vents every 1-2 years to prevent dust accumulation from affecting heat dissipation. There is no need for frequent cell or electrolyte replacement, resulting in much lower maintenance costs compared to traditional lead-acid batteries.
2. Can rack-mounted lithium batteries directly replace traditional lead-acid batteries in machine rooms? What should be noted during installation?
Yes, direct replacement is possible, but the following points should be noted:
• Dimensional compatibility: Ensure the height (in U) and depth of the rack-mounted lithium batteries are compatible with the existing lead-acid battery cabinet. Typically, 19-inch standard rack designs can be installed directly.
• Electrical parameter matching: Verify voltage (e.g., 48V), capacity, and maximum charge/discharge current to ensure they match the UPS host or load requirements.
• Safety standards: Disconnect the main power supply during installation, use cables that meet machine room electrical specifications (such as flame-retardant cables), and complete parameter configuration through the BMS system to ensure normal communication with the existing monitoring platform.
3. Can rack-mounted lithium batteries work stably in high or low temperature environments? How to handle extreme temperatures?
Rack-mounted lithium batteries generally have a normal operating temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, but scenario-specific optimizations are required:
• High-temperature environments (e.g., outdoor base stations): Battery packs are equipped with forced air cooling or liquid cooling systems, and the outer casing uses fire-resistant and heat-insulating materials. The BMS automatically adjusts charge/discharge current to prevent thermal runaway.
• Low-temperature environments (e.g., northern machine rooms): Built-in heating modules automatically activate preheating when the temperature drops below 0°C to maintain cell activity. Meanwhile, charging current is limited at low temperatures to prevent lithium dendrite formation, which could affect safety.
